Making a Difference
Volunteer Opportunities
As a volunteer, you will join a corps of special people whose skills, dedication, and commitment to our mission makes this work possible. Our volunteers are men and women of every age group-high school and college students, retirees, working professionals, and young mothers, to name a few-who represent the incredible diversity of the Las Vegas metropolitan region.
How You Can Help
Compassion Care Hospice volunteers are treated as unpaid staff. They play key roles throughout the organization: assisting with patient care; handling administrative chores; staffing our thrift shop; supporting special fundraising events; and making presentations to explain our work in the community, just to name a few.
Other volunteers donate their professional services, whether as doctors, nurses, lawyers, musicians, or massage therapists, for example.
Those with other unique skills or life experiences can find a way to put these to use as well. For example, a Hospice volunteer with a background in media is designing a training program to teach adult volunteers how to create an oral history. The goal will be to present the patient and loved ones with a CD containing the patient’s story in their own words plus photographs from their personal collection.
Volunteers are needed in areas such as:
- Compassionate and Emotional Support
- Sitting with Patients
- Small Errands
- Crafts and Holiday Activities
- Office Help
